MISSIONARIES

Neal and Danette are both graduates of Agape School of World Evangelism and Oral Roberts University. Their 3 children, Trae, Tanika & Tobi, work closely with them in the ministry.

As a missionary kid in Nigeria, Neal’s heart was stirred for the Unreached Islamic nations. Since 1998 the Childs’ family has been reaching Muslims in Niger. They are leaders of Vie Abondante, a church-planting ministry that currently has 30 church plants, pastored by Vie Abondante trained nationals.

They are sent out under their pastor, Happy Caldwell and Agape Missionary Alliance to reach into the 10/40 window through the predominantly Muslim nation of Niger.

Mission News:

Greetings from Niger. We pray that you all are having a great summer, and are recognizing the blessings God has sent your way. He certainly has blessed us! Our last update was just before kids camp. That camp has come and gone, but the lives that were changed will last for eternity.

Trae was here, and it was wonderful to be working together as a complete family. Christi, Trae's girlfriend was also here to get to know our family, to get to know Trae's life, and to help with the camp. After she arrived, the veteran team from Capital Life Church arrived. Together with everyone already here, we were a full house! Camp was fantastic and nearly 450 kids were ministered to. Team Capital Life was incredible as they daily taught our kids that they too can do the works of Jesus.

In addition to all the campers we had up to 75 people from our various churches volunteering as captains, assistant captains, ushers, cooks and various other jobs necessary to make this happen. There's not room enough here to talk about all that went on - I'll do that in a blog post. But thanks so much to all who helped by praying for this camp. We can say without a doubt that the lives of many children will not be the same because of the love of Jesus demonstrated to them.

Before our team left, we took them to Tamou and Yanbingina, 2 of the Gourmantche churches that are experiencing great growth. It was a journey worthy of its own blog post - which I will also write sometime soon. For now, I want to keep this short and important...Pastor Sule has specifically asked me to ask you to pray. The first church plant in this region is in Tamou.

From there, pastor Sule and some his new converts have been evangelizing and have started works in Yanbingina, Loulouge ,Boulel & Cancabouri. There are literally hundreds of new believers combined. Because of the response among the Gourmantche people, the Muslims are taking note. Right after we were there with our team, a group of arabs in their 4x4 vehicles showed up to 'evangelize' as well.

They are targeting some of our people, offering grain, cloth medicine and even money. They are promising to dig wells and planning to build mosques. Pastor Sule said that no one has 'backslidden' so far, but he's obvious ly concerned because he's asked us to pray for the strength of the believers. When you're hungry, it can be quite challenging to resist help being offered - even if it's offered in the name of Islam and you're a Christian.

We are confident that God has opened up this area and this is evident in the resistance we are facing - the enemy is not going to sit by and allow hundreds to find eternal life without a fight. It's a fight that we will win, but we need your prayers.

Right now we have a small church built in Yanbingina. We have land in Tamou and have built the wall around it. The next step is to build the pastor's house and a church on that land. This will go far in establishing the Gospel in that area. Currently we are renting a place and because we are in rainy season, it floods, and one of the mud rooms of Pastor Sule's house caved in.
